History of the Tournament

Thank you for showing interest in the Gail Phillips Memorial Golf Tournament. Gail was a wonderful wife, mother of three and devoted grandmother of seven. Throughout her life Gail had an unwavering compassion and belief in helping others. Along with her infectious personality which allowed her to make friends easily and passion to organize events Gail often was found putting together events that would keep her neighbours and friends connected. After spending many years working and raising a family including several foster children Gail found herself retired and in need of finding something to fill the extra time she now had and decided to take up golf. With her new enthusiasm towards golf and her devotion to her community Gail started a neighbourhood golf tournament that brought people together and supported local charities. After her diagnosis and short battle with Ovarian Cancer in 2007 her friends and family decided that there was no better way to celebrate her life than to carry on her tradition of an annual tournament that would bring friends together in support of a good cause.

Through the hard work of her friends and family and with the support of many great sponsors we have created a spectacular golf tournament and silent auction. In the past four years we have donated over $80,000 to support the research and education of Ovarian Cancer. Our volunteers and tournament organizers are truly that - volunteers, 100% of the proceeds raised at the tournament go directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Foundation. In 2010 realizing that there were so many supporters of this worthy cause that were not golfers we created an event for the non-golfer. This event was so well received that we have made it even better for the 2011 tournament, including food, wine and coffee seminars as well as an introduction to yoga or golf.

Whether you are looking to have a great day of golf, an enjoyable day of discovery or maybe you just want to support a great cause - this is the event for you.

We look forward to seeing you there.
